Forstner has been in the business of making watch bracelets for a hundred years. It’s no surprise that they know how to make a great one. The Komfit is their modern reissue of the iconic watch band worn by NASA astronauts on Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo missions. Seen on the wrist of astronauts both on the ground and in the void of space, this flashy, yet tool-like bracelet has a look like no other. This unique bracelet is also supremely adjustable for a comfortable fit — see where the name came from now?
Crafted from lightweight, yet durable stainless steel mesh with a square-patterned design, the Komfit is easily adjustable on the fly in micro-increments for a perfect fit. Spring loaded end pieces allow the Komfit to fit a variety of lug widths, from 16-20mm with the same bracelet. The bracelet you’re getting isn’t exactly the same as the vintage version, as Forstner has made some modern improvements such as the extendable end links, a slightly wider ( 1mm) band for a better fit on the wrist, and an updated clasp that’s even more secure. You can choose between straight and horned end pieces, depending on how you want your watch to look. The "Regular" version was made to fit small to medium wrists and works best on wrists between 5.75 and 7 inches while The "Original" reflects the length once worn by astronauts over their space suits, and as a result is equivalent to a "long" size. The "Original" works best on wrists at least 7 inches (18 cm) in circumference and will fit wrists up to approximately 10 inches (25.5 cm) in circumference. It’s hard to resist the vintage styling of the Komfit, especially with the updated modern construction.
